INDORE: Giving a major boost to the tribal region of Jhabua district, Indian pharmaceutical giant 'Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited' will soon be investing Rs 2000 crores in the district.
As per the official industry department sources, the pharma giant is planning to set up a manufacturing plant on more than 100 acres of land in the district which would generate huge employment in the area.

Kumar Purushottam, Managing Director (MD), Audhyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN), said, "Cadila (pharmaceutical unit) is coming and their intention is to establish somewhere in Jhabua. It is a part of their corporate social responsibility initiative. It will be at Petlawad or at Meghnagar. They are coming up with a project of around Rs 2000 crores,"
Industry sources claimed that the paperwork in the clearance of the pharmaceutical industries takes a long time, which delays the process. "Some industries have a long gestation period. As far as pharma industries are concerned they are basically export-oriented industries. Their market is outside India, so norms are very strict and it takes almost 4-5 years. If we allot a land to the pharma industry it will take time to get operational but during this process they do all the employment and appointments," added Purushottam.

Department sources claimed that the Indian pharma giant is planning for their expansion to uplift the tribal region of the state. Official sources claimed that the company had specially demanded to set up the plant in the tribal region which would be a part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR).
However, interestingly AKVN had set up a pharma-herbal cluster at Bijepur (Depalpur tehsil) near Indore. The total land had 32 plots with a range varying from 2,000 square metres to 10,000 square metres.
But for the past three year's department has failed to attract investment in this region. In 2013, Madhya Pradesh AKVN had proposed to set-up Herbal Park and pharmaceutical cluster spread over 44.60 hectares of land.
